Corporate Governance Association of Turkey, R. Board Member / Borusan Holding, Public Policy and Corporate Relations Director

Akdag is the Public Policy and Corporate Relations Director of Borusan Holding, one of the most prominent holding companies in Turkey. Apart from being the head of Ankara Branch of Borusan Holding, he’s also responsible for various aspects of government engagement strategies of Borusan Group Companies, particularly Borusan Mannesmann Pipe, Borcelik, Borusan Logistics and Borusan Port, Borusan CAT, Borusan Automotive Group that represents BMW, Mini, Jaguar and Land Rover in Turkey, Supsan, Borusan Vehicle Auction, Borusan EnBW Energy. Within this context he actively contributes advocacy efforts of various prominent business organizations such as TOBB, Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEİK), The Turkey-U.S. Business Council (TAİK), U.S.-Turkey Business Council of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD), YASED, The American Business Forum in Turkey (AmCham Turkey/ABFT) and The German Turkish Chamber of Commerce Abroad (AHK Turkey).
Before joining Borusan Holding, he had been the Permanent Ankara Representative of TUSIAD for more than ten years. He had sustained a solid bridge between the legislative, administrative, diplomatic authorities and prominent national and multinational companies operating in Turkey for almost 16 years as a part of this organization. Akdag also taught various courses a guest lecturer at Ankara University, TOBB ETU, California Berkeley School of Law, The George Washington University, METU, Bogazici University and Istanbul University.
He has various publications in English and Turkish, and limited Japanese and German proficiency. He is an alumnus of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program of 2010, an alumnus of Young European Leaders 2004 of Japanese Government and was selected for Team Europe in 2015 by the EU Delegation in Turkey.
Akdag is a member of the Board of Directors of Corporate Governance Association of Turkey (TKYD) and Turkish Quality Association (KALDER) Ankara. He has founded the Ankara Hub of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers initiative and volunteered for various organizations such as Turkey Technology Foundation (TTGV) and TEDxTunali.
